The Sea Film Festival has the sea as its central theme and is the first film festival organized on this theme in La Spezia. The goal is to convey the expression of a sea seen, felt and experienced as an environment and ecology, work and resource, a nucleus of literature and moods and represented according to the emotions, images, sounds and meanings given by the various directors. to their cinematic expressions. The Festival stimulates the participation of film makers from all over the world through the production of short films (lasting no more than 10 minutes) that express their concept of “sea”.
We thought that organizing this Festival in La Spezia could enhance our “sea environment” as this territory constitutes a place that we consider unique for the naturalistic and historical elements that characterize it: a city squeezed between land and sea, overlooking a Gulf which for centuries has represented its natural harbor and offers images of amazement and suggestion, the Gulf of Poets …
Il Sea Film Festival ha come tema centrale il mare ed è il primo festival cinematografico organizzato su questo tema a La Spezia. L’obiettivo è trasmettere l’espressione di un mare visto, sentito e vissuto come ambiente ed ecologia, lavoro e risorsa, nucleo di letteratura e stati d’animo e rappresentato secondo le emozioni, le immagini, i suoni e i significati dati dai vari registi alle loro espressioni cinematografiche. Il Festival stimola la partecipazione di film makers da ogni parte del mondo mediante la realizzazione di cortometraggi (della durata non superiore ai 10 minuti) che esprimano il loro concetto di «mare».
Abbiamo pensato che organizzare questo Festival a La Spezia potesse valorizzare il nostro «sea environment» in quanto questo territorio costituisce un luogo che noi riteniamo unico per gli elementi naturalistici e storici che lo caratterizzano: una città stretta tra terra e mare, affacciata su un Golfo che da secoli rappresenta il suo porto naturale e regala immagini di stupore e suggestione, il Golfo dei Poeti…

Perchè alla Spezia
Qui la natura, la storia e la poesia si sono intrecciate con lo sviluppo delle risorse di una terra affascinante e spigolosa: chi ha abitato da sempre queste zone ha saputo valorizzare con determinazione, fatica, fantasia e amore per il territorio ciò che terra e mare offrivano… ecco quindi l’agricoltura eroica, le viti, gli olivi, la pesca, le coltivazioni di mitili, le tradizioni legate ai prodotti della terra, la natura da scoprire e da custodire, e -di pari passo- ecco i colori, le vie e la gente di una città che, grazie alla sua posizione strategica per il turismo ed il commercio ha conosciuto il suo sviluppo … Abbiamo pensato quindi che La Spezia fosse il luogo ideale per ospitare una manifestazione cinematografica legata al mare e alle sue diverse “declinazioni”, il posto ideale per accogliere, scambiare e condividere le diverse interpretazioni del MARE che ci accomuna come risorsa, ma anche come ambiente e storia, un luogo interiore di ricordi, di tradizioni e di emozioni…
